How To Make A Free Facebook Banner

Top of the afternoon ladies and gentlemen,

In this short blog post, I’m going to show you how to make a free Facebook banner and put that sucker on your profile in less than 5 minutes.

As you may or may not know, Facebook has recently been undergoing some major changes lately, and among those was their UI (user interface) which was completely redesigned from the ground up. As a result of this new update has come some new and really cool things that you can do with your profile, including adding a brand new Facebook banner to the top of your profile.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you just probably just skip to the video below to see exactly what I mean. But in case you wanna read about, I’m talking about the 5 boxes that now appear at the top of your Facebook profile. By default, these photos get updated when people tag you in them, but if you wanna do something REALLY cool, you can actually make an image collage, if you will, meaning that all 5 images go together to create on image that flows together.

You may have seen this kind of banner art on other peoples Facebook peoples profile and wondered how they did it. Well I’m about to show you and I’m going to make it EXTREMELY easy to do. However, you will need one very important resource before we start.

• Photoshop – If you don’t have Photoshop or don’t feel like paying for it, then you can download the GIMP, which is essentially an open sourced version of Photoshop that does virtually everything Photoshop can do. I highly recommend it if you don’t have PS.

Once you either have Photoshop or the GIMP installed, it’s time to watch the video below so you can follow along as I create an awesome Facebook banner right in front of your eyes in less than 5 minutes.

As you can see, that was DEAD simple. I suggest you get one implemented right away. This will help you with brand recognition tremendously, every little thing matters online to make you look as professional as possible.

Now I know that I didnt go over how to use Photoshop in this quick video so if you wanna get a sick banner setup on your profile but dunno the first thing about image editing and Photoshop, then just let me know and I’ll hook you up with a top notch, professional banner for only $25 bucks.

Hopefully you were able to get it all figured out without having to fork over some money to me or another graphic designer, but just in case you didn’t, you can always contact me by leaving a comment on this post. Simply let me know that you want to get a banner designed and I’ll reply back with more info.

Also, if you enjoyed this video then please share it with your friends and anyone else you think would get some real value out of it.

You’re awesome and thank you for reading…

Talk soon,
Matthew

Facebook Poised To ‘Bitch Slap’ Google

Posted by MatthewNeer on Oct 4, 2010 in Facebook, Featured Articles, Social Media | 12 comments

Hey there,

Are you a marketer who’s been trying to get massive traffic from Google over the years only to fail to no avail?

Yeah, me too…

Let’s face it, Google really does not like marketers AT ALL anymore. In fact, they recently slapped 50,000 marketers, including home business owners, off of their network without flinching…

But you know what DOES make Google flinch?

FACEBOOK

Yeah, Facebook is literally neck and neck with Google right now, as far as traffic goes, and is actually WAY ahead in its user base. Facebook is confidently sitting at 500 million users right now and is highly anticipated to reach 1 billion users, in fact, its almost inevitable.

And right now, Facebook is the ONLY company to ever come close to reviling Google’s massive empire and they are doing it without even breaking a sweat.

There is no doubt in my mind that Facebook will become the worlds biggest Internet company and overthrow Google tyrannical throne.

If your a marketer, you have probably heard the big gurus ranting and raving about Google Adwords back in the ‘good ol days’ around 2003 and 2004 when Google too actually embraced affiliates. (hard to believe now) But none the less, TONS of millionaires where made during that time because the traffic was HOT, the leads where FRESH and people were taking action with their WALLET.

Well nothing has really changed much except for the fact that those people really aren’t ON GOOGLE anymore.

Guess where they went?

Facebook…

Can you guess where you should be if you are a marketer?

Yea, Facebook…

Right now Facebook actually LOVES affiliates and I imagine its going to stay that way for awhile as Facebooks PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising program is literally JUST getting started. We have seen massive advancement in just the last year alone, some features that even better Adwords itself.

So as Facebook reaches the 1 billion user mark and surpasses Google in daily amounts of traffic, its only a matter of time until every advertiser under the sun realizes this and starts putting their ads of Facebook too.

You need to get to Facebook before all the big corporations do. Because trust me, they will be there, they just won’t be there yet. They are always the late adopters of everything. They wait for it to be ‘proven’ over and over before they invest their time and money into something new.

Well guess what, we know that Facebook WORKS right now.

My buddy JB just released one of his first videos on Facebook Ads today and why Facebook is poised to seriously ‘Bitch Slap’ Google. And honestly, its about time Google gets what’s coming to them!

Check out this awesome video, you’ll love it!

Is Social Media A Joke?

Posted by MatthewNeer on Jul 29, 2010 in Featured Articles, Social Media | 13 comments

Yeah, that’s right, I said it!

Social Media is a freakin’ joke.

I mean, when you really stop and think about it, how much are you really gaining from all the time you waste on sites like Facebook, Twitter, or even YouTube?

Are you really generating leads from social media? Are you really making money from being on those sites?

Now obviously these websites are HUGE these days and there is obviously potential money to be made, but that’s not the questions I asked you. I asked if YOU are making any money from them?

Now before we get into that a little deeper let’s take a look at some of the things going on with some of the industries top producers. First off I don’t think Mike Dillard has posted to his blog since last year, he barley sends out one Tweet per day, and I doubt if he’s even that active on Facebook. Yet he is still making thousands of dollars every single month.

Now Jonathan Budd is a little more active, but still not as much as he used to be now that he’s become very successful in the past year. J Budd still posts to Facebook and Twitter actively almost everyday but it’s more of a means to drive traffic back to his blog where he usually delivers a video message. His social media presence is lacking that personal touch. But not to say that’s a bad thing.

John Reese recently deleted his Facebook account because those darn helicopters piloted by the CIA (aka Frank Kern) were circling his house again. Lol, no I’m just kidding, but he seriously did delete it due to privacy reasons. Yet John Reese has made over 1 million dollars in a single day before, with no social media.

Frank Kern doesn’t even own his own Twitter account, Jason Moffat does, both of them. Frank does have a Facebook account but I he doesn’t use it very much. He’s not on YouTube, not on LinkedIn, doesn’t even have a blog up anymore yet the dude still makes a killing on demand, whenever he wants.

Moreover, all of these guys are able to create massive amounts of cold hard cash on demand.

Why is that?

Honestly, it’s no mystery. It’s no secret. In fact, it’s so easy that it’s seriously common freakin’ sense.

The Money Is In The List

And to take that one step deeper, the money is in the relationship that you have with that list. If you serve them will awesome amounts of value and give nothing but pure awesome content, your list will love you and continue to grow exponentially.

Now let’s go back to the original question of this post.

Are you really making any money from being on social media sites?

And the bottom line is really this. If you are generating leads off of Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube or any other social media website then that is exactly what you should be doing. If you are not generating leads, then you should take a hike and go write some articles or something until you get that lead flow running consistently. Then you can come back and party on social media, cause that’s really what social media is, a big fat party all day.

Go get those leads my friends, go get em.

Facebook Dropping Atom Bomb On Google?

Posted by MatthewNeer on Jul 8, 2010 in Facebook, Featured Articles, Social Media | 13 comments

If you have been following the development of some recent stuff Facebook is working on, you’d know that there is going to be a new search engine in town.

Yes, that’s right, Facebook is launching a search engine. And it’s going to revolve around “Social Search”.

But before I get into that a little deeper here, I want to say that many who are in-the-know are probably excited because they would LOVE to see someone try and challenge Google’s empire. While very cool that might be, I’m actually REALLY excited for an entirely different reason.

Facebook is going to be the next frontier in SEO. It’s going to be the next big Kahuna when people search for stuff online. Can you imagine people saying, “Oh you can just Facebook that…” It might sound kind of weird right now, but if Facebook pulls this off right I believe that Facebook can put some serious smackdown on the notorious Google.

Not to long ago Facebook when after Google’s infamous Adwords advertising platform, and with much success has taken a large slice of their pie. If you notice there are less and less advertisers in the marketing and networking niches on Google Adwords. And for good reason, clicks are getting more and more expensive, marketers are getting banned over and over again, and Google will whip out that backhand quicker than Chuck Norris in an old western gun dual.

With that said, I don’t believe that Facebook is going to bankrupt Google or anything like that because Google’s search engine algorithms are almost super intelligent. But then again, the young dudes over at Facebook always seem to have some tricks up their sleeve…

Here’s how Facebook SEO is going to work.

The developers over at Facebook are giving you two options to optimize your page to appear in their search index. The first is a “Like” button that visitors can click on insisting that they “Like” this page. And second, a set of tags that allows webmasters to tell Facebook what their site is all about, also known as Meta Data.

So instead of web page rankings being based off of backlinks like Google uses, it will be based off of “Likes” thus giving real time personal feedback to the page and displaying, what could be even more relevant results.

You had better be getting your SEO skills polished by the time this sucker drops, here’s why…

With what Facebook did with Ads, it will do with “Social Search”. And since it has Bing powering it, you know it’s going to be a serious contender in the evolution of search online.

Facebook is giving all of us marketers are great opportunity to save some cash from those darn expensive PPC ads and get some free results with SEO that can bring in long term traffic time and time again.

I wanna know what you think? Do you agree or disagree with the statements made here in this post? Do you think Google will fall and Facebook with stand strong, or is it the opposite? Maybe you know something I don’t? Share them in a comment below.

What Are The Top 3 Twitter Rules

Posted by MatthewNeer on Jun 19, 2010 in Featured Articles, Social Media, Twitter | 4 comments

Twitter Rule #1 – Create Your Own Rules

- This is by far the most important of all the rules on Twitter because it’s not really a rule. Twitter doesn’t really have any, so if someone tells you that you’re not “Twittering” right then feel free to completely ignore them.

Have you ever noticed how many things that have now become a Twitter standard like RTs, #hashtags, and @mentions were all create by the users of Twitter?

That should tell you that it’s totally up to you to create your own sets of rules for Twitter and apply them how you see fit! However, because this is true you should remember rule number two…

Twitter Rule #2 – Keep An Open Mind

- There are a lot of great ways to get more out of Twitter that you can learn from other simply by keeping an open mind as to how they use Twitter.

If someone you Tweet with gives you advice, feel free to think about it and feel free to question it. But regardless, investigate what they tell you and see if it can apply to making your Twittering more streamlined, like using a tool to your following like TweetAdder or maybe you want to manage your tweets and groups better on Twitter, then you need to check out TweetDeck.

How you can tell a piece of advice on Twitter is wrong: It only gives one point of view or says to do this and this because it’s the only way to do it. That simply isn’t the case and they are automatically wrong.

Twitter is about many different things, not just one. And because that is true, remember rule number three.

Twitter Rule Number 3 – Help Out Fellow Tweople

-One you learn how powerful helping others on Twitter is you can forget everything else, all the other rules don’t apply…

TSA Facebook Event & Webinar

Posted by MatthewNeer on Jun 18, 2010 in Featured Articles, Social Media, Tribes | 3 comments

To all you TSA heads out there, this blog post goes out to you.

Most of you actively involved with TSA have been experiencing a massive surge of traffic from the syndication you have been participating in. And if you’re relatively new to TSA then you need to go the spreadsheet in the Facebook Group and put your information in there and start syndicating your fellows group members.

The premise behind Tribes and Social Media Syndication is this; You Get What You Give. Therefore you are basically going to receive as much Syndication love as you give back to your fellow TSA members.

Just to touch on that really quick you want to add content to other peoples blogs that is adding serious value to their post. Don’t just write some one sentence comment because number one, that makes you look like your lazy and number two, it doesn’t add value to their blog.

The whole idea of a syndication network is to comment, Tweet, and syndicate your fellows groups content. The only way you are ever going to receive that love back is by giving it first.

Now with that said, TSA is putting on a webinar on June 24th at 9:00pm EST.

I am going to be one of the presenters on that Webinar, I am going to be teaching blogging and how to generate massive floods of traffic to your blog. And if there is still time I am going to cover some blogging SEO tactics as well because Google as been giving some insane amount of love to bloggers lately and if you really active on your blog your PageRank and get high really quick. When that happens you will be able to rank for long tail keyword phrases really quickly, sometimes in as little as 24 hours or less. I have ranked for certain keywords in about 2-3 hours.

So anyways, we got a Facebook event where you can confirm that you will be attending this powerful Webinar and register for the GoToMeeting yourself and get confirmation.

Here is the link to join us in this Free Webinar.

Twitter Is Finally Serving Ads – Promoted Tweets

Posted by MatthewNeer on Jun 16, 2010 in Featured Articles, Social Media, Twitter | 6 comments

If you’ve been active on the Twitterverse lately then you would have noticed the little image icon next to some Tweets.

These little mini logos are actually paid advertisements that Twitter is selling to the highest bidder.

You may have noticed these Tweets when you were following the Worldcup on Twitter. You would have seen a little soccer ball next to the Tweet featuring the keyword Worldcup.

Another way Twitter is promoting advertisements is by letting advertisers buy Trending Topics which has been sort of controversial between advertisers and users of Twitter. To my experience, people just don’t want to see advertisements in Trending Topics. Maybe it’s because they are not used to it yet, or maybe it’s because it is flat out straight up intrusive. What do you think?

However, there is yet another way Twitter is promoting ads throughout their network.

It’s called “Promoted Tweets” and right now it’s looking like Twitters premier method of advertising at this point. Here’s how it works.

Twitter is currently letting major advertising networks like BesetBuy, Bravo, Red Bull, Sony Pictures, Starbucks, and Virgin America — with more to come but my prediction is that this service will be soon available to the public. And marketers like you and I will be able to advertise on this network at a very affordable rate.

Now here’s the brilliant twist in the way Twitter serves their ads. They have made the ads totally user relevant in the respect that Twitter will only allow a Promoted Tweet” to say on Twitter if users interact with it.

Basically that means that if the Tweet is a total rejection in the Twitterverse then Twitter will make that “Promoted Tweet” disappear. what this does is for advertisers and businesses using the service to craft quite brilliant Tweets in order for them to get the somewhat natural viral distribution that Twitter has become known for.

But again, this only comes with the ability to build a relationship with your followers and your ability to write a eye popping and click sucking Tweet.

And that’s an entirely new skill in itself. Something that has only come to surface in the last few months as the mainstream has caught on to the power of Twitter and whats possible with its unique advertising methods.

I cannot wait to see how Twitter develops it’s new advertising platform over the future. I’ve always found the concept of direct text message advertising very interesting. Imagine if you walked by a store where you had previously purchased something and simply because you walked through that stores WiFi connection they were able to pull your Twitter username and shoot you a direct advertisement or coupon based on the fact that you had previous purchases at this store.

Can you say the holy grail of targeted advertising?

Wow, that would be amazing and i bet that the technology is already there except that most people have not even thought of this brilliant type of advertising because it is so new to the marketplace that most people simply would not be ready for it and would probably call it an invasion of privacy.

But fact of the matter is that this is where advertising is going. Mobile. And it’s only going to get more advanced and more targeted as time and technology go on.

I wanna know what you think is going to happen with this type of advertising and how it’s going to effect our economy and our world.

Tribal Syndication – Why You Need To Be Doing This

Posted by MatthewNeer on Jun 6, 2010 in Featured Articles, Social Media, Tribes | 15 comments

First off, who is Tribal Syndication for?

Tribal Syndication is for bloggers of all walks of life.

The entire purpose is having a tribe is to help promote your tribes content to your network of friends online. And in turn, by giving you will get many syndications in return.

One of the most important things to have on social media sites is what’s called “Social Proof”. Social Proof is basically a literal number of RTs, Comments, FB Shares, and pretty much anything that shows people have been on your blog and actively reading your stuff. It makes that person feel more inclined to leave some form of content.

While this may sound kid of cheesy people are impressed by big numbers. That’s why if you have 50+ RTs on a certain post you are going to keep getting more and more RTs because 1. It goes viral on Twitter and other Social Media sites and 2. because every person that comes across it sees those large numbers and it makes them feel a little more obligated to RT your stuff.

Another critical reason why Tribal Syndication is very important to your success online is the fact that Google is now officially indexing Tweets, Facebook updates, and many other forms of Social Media updates.

What this means is every time your blog posts gets Tweeted it will become indexed in Google again and again thus making your post appear higher in the search rankings. And if you know anything about SEO you know how much relevance Google is giving to Social Media these days.

If you’ve been observant lately you’ll have noticed that Google has been beta testing a little extra search result option called “My Social Circle”. You’ll see this thing popping up at the bottom of your normal top 10 search results that give and extra two results from people you are connected with on Social Media sites like blogs, facebook and Twitter. They have a primary focus on blogs though, which tells your that blogging is becoming very powerful.

Not to mention all the cool people you are going to meet. I’ve honestly met some of my best friends in the whole world online, I’ve met my girlfriend online, I’ve built powerful business relationships through social media and all kinds of other cool things have happened to me since I’ve been plugged into the Internet and been online with Social Media and blogging.

But more importantly, I what to know what you have experienced. If you’re a member of tribes like TSA or the Networking Superstars and have been getting massive exposure from the syndication game then I want to hear about it in a comment below.

If you want you can ever leave a brief testimonial for what Tribal Syndication has done for you below and we’ll be sure to use it in some of our up coming promotions.

I can’t wait to hear what you have to say…

Tribe TSA – SEO for Blogging

Tribe TSA – SEO for Blogging

Tribe TSA on Facebook

With the literal eruption of Social Media lately Google has starting giving a HUGE amount of relevancy to blogs, and more specifically, WordPress blogs. And not those cheap, limited theme having WordPress.com sites. I’m talking about those epic self-hosted WordPress blogs, that’s what Google is lovin’ right now and that’s what you should have in your marketing arsenal.

If you haven’t noticed Google is beta testing something called “My Social Circle” and when you do a Google search it will appear at the bottom of the search results displaying info from peoples blogs you have recently been on. It’s definitely a sign the Google is loving YOUR content.

Recently since my blog as been getting massive amounts of traffic and my Google Page Rank growing more and more everyday, my website has been able to rank for specific keywords in almost no time at all. I simply just write a post, publish the thing, targeting a profitable keyword of course and then within a matter of hours that post gets rank in Google. It’s pretty awesome, and you can do it too!

That’s what I recorded this video for you. Well, actually it was for my core tribe, TSA but I suppose since you’re on my blog right now I’ll embed this sucker here for you to watch as well. Normally we keep this stuff pretty exclusive but I feel like this stuff needs to be shared with everyone.

Most “SEO Experts” would charge thousands for this kind of knowledge. In fact I was on a webinar the other night with some top SEO experts in the industry and they were charging upwards of $800 bucks just for their starter package. So when I give this stuff away for free I am really doing you a great service because most people price this knowledge high, but I just think that’s ridiculous.

Here’s the video.

Will Facebook Overthrow Google?

Posted by MatthewNeer on May 13, 2010 in Facebook, Featured Articles, Social Media | 2 comments

You know, for the longest time the big bad Internet tyrant known as Google has dominated the webs traffic, holding down the number one spot for years upon years and not even a single web site has come close to matching it’s massive surges of traffic, until now…

With the rise of Social Media has come a new tyrant set to overthrow the big bad notorious Google, and this one goes by the name of Facebook. In fact, I’m sure you use both of them every single day.

But stop for a second and ask yourself, which one do you use more?

If you’re like me you probably paused to think for a moment because you use both multiple times per day but then thought that you Google stuff WAY more than “Facebook” stuff.

But that’s exactly what I’m getting at here, what if you could “Facebook” something you wanted the answer to instead of Googling it.

Ahh, now that raises a lot of interesting questions, doesn’t it?

What do you think would happen if Facebook decided to add a “Search Web” option to their Facebook toolbar? They already have more users than Google because they are a Social Network. Their users are probably more loyal than Googlers because of the comradeship Facebook creates even though most email accounts are probably tied to Gmail.

But whether or not this is going to happen has yet to be determined and only time will tell. All I can say for sure is that Google has officially declared Facebook a thick competitor in their market. Google is very aware of the threat Facebook poses to pull some of their revenue, and more specifically, advertising revenue.

Let’s Take A Step Back And Analyze Facebook

Recently an Internet Marketer named Ryan Diess released a program called FB Ad Power. If you’ve got your nose in your MacBook like I do then you’ve probably heard of it. But either way what that course did was teach people how to advertise on Facebooks new PPC network. Actually, it’s not that new, it’s just that people either didn’t know about it or didn’t know how to use it.

What FB Ad Power did was show Internet Marketers how to capitalize on the new surge of traffic coming through Facebook.

You see, social networks like Facebook have a unique way of advertising. Instead of the traditional PPC methods of targeting keywords like you would on Google, you now target peoples interests.

I’m sure you are familiar with how you add in your unique interests into Facebook under the info tab. Well this is what Facebook pulls from when decided how to serve an ad to someone, along with other things like age, sex, and location.

With this in mind the way you write you ad will need to differ a little bit as well. Instead of doing a direct sale like you would in Adwords you want to play on peoples interests and passions in Facebook. Basically you want to make your ad sound “cool” based on the demographic you’re trying to target.

Another great tip to know is that Facebook only reads the ads one page deep at this point. Meaning you can easily create a targeted video squeeze page for your ad and Facebook will love you for it versus Google trying to dish out a notorious slap for something like that.

Anyways, right now Facebook is basically the hot spot of traffic with low competition so if you’re looking to get your foot in the door through PPC advertising FB is the place to be. Or even if you want to expand on some more traffic and lead generating sources Facebook will do nicely.
