What Are The Top 3 Twitter Rules
Twitter Rule #1 – Create Your Own Rules
- This is by far the most important of all the rules on Twitter because it’s not really a rule. Twitter doesn’t really have any, so if someone tells you that you’re not “Twittering” right then feel free to completely ignore them.
Have you ever noticed how many things that have now become a Twitter standard like RTs, #hashtags, and @mentions were all create by the users of Twitter?
That should tell you that it’s totally up to you to create your own sets of rules for Twitter and apply them how you see fit! However, because this is true you should remember rule number two…
Twitter Rule #2 – Keep An Open Mind
- There are a lot of great ways to get more out of Twitter that you can learn from other simply by keeping an open mind as to how they use Twitter.
If someone you Tweet with gives you advice, feel free to think about it and feel free to question it. But regardless, investigate what they tell you and see if it can apply to making your Twittering more streamlined, like using a tool to your following like TweetAdder or maybe you want to manage your tweets and groups better on Twitter, then you need to check out TweetDeck.
How you can tell a piece of advice on Twitter is wrong: It only gives one point of view or says to do this and this because it’s the only way to do it. That simply isn’t the case and they are automatically wrong.
Twitter is about many different things, not just one. And because that is true, remember rule number three.
Twitter Rule Number 3 – Help Out Fellow Tweople
-One you learn how powerful helping others on Twitter is you can forget everything else, all the other rules don’t apply…
Twitter Is Finally Serving Ads – Promoted Tweets
If you’ve been active on the Twitterverse lately then you would have noticed the little image icon next to some Tweets.
These little mini logos are actually paid advertisements that Twitter is selling to the highest bidder.
You may have noticed these Tweets when you were following the Worldcup on Twitter. You would have seen a little soccer ball next to the Tweet featuring the keyword Worldcup.
Another way Twitter is promoting advertisements is by letting advertisers buy Trending Topics which has been sort of controversial between advertisers and users of Twitter. To my experience, people just don’t want to see advertisements in Trending Topics. Maybe it’s because they are not used to it yet, or maybe it’s because it is flat out straight up intrusive. What do you think?
However, there is yet another way Twitter is promoting ads throughout their network.
It’s called “Promoted Tweets” and right now it’s looking like Twitters premier method of advertising at this point. Here’s how it works.
Twitter is currently letting major advertising networks like BesetBuy, Bravo, Red Bull, Sony Pictures, Starbucks, and Virgin America — with more to come but my prediction is that this service will be soon available to the public. And marketers like you and I will be able to advertise on this network at a very affordable rate.
Now here’s the brilliant twist in the way Twitter serves their ads. They have made the ads totally user relevant in the respect that Twitter will only allow a “Promoted Tweet” to say on Twitter if users interact with it.
Basically that means that if the Tweet is a total rejection in the Twitterverse then Twitter will make that “Promoted Tweet” disappear. what this does is for advertisers and businesses using the service to craft quite brilliant Tweets in order for them to get the somewhat natural viral distribution that Twitter has become known for.
But again, this only comes with the ability to build a relationship with your followers and your ability to write a eye popping and click sucking Tweet.
And that’s an entirely new skill in itself. Something that has only come to surface in the last few months as the mainstream has caught on to the power of Twitter and whats possible with its unique advertising methods.
I cannot wait to see how Twitter develops it’s new advertising platform over the future. I’ve always found the concept of direct text message advertising very interesting. Imagine if you walked by a store where you had previously purchased something and simply because you walked through that stores WiFi connection they were able to pull your Twitter username and shoot you a direct advertisement or coupon based on the fact that you had previous purchases at this store.
Can you say the holy grail of targeted advertising?
Wow, that would be amazing and i bet that the technology is already there except that most people have not even thought of this brilliant type of advertising because it is so new to the marketplace that most people simply would not be ready for it and would probably call it an invasion of privacy.
But fact of the matter is that this is where advertising is going. Mobile. And it’s only going to get more advanced and more targeted as time and technology go on.
I wanna know what you think is going to happen with this type of advertising and how it’s going to effect our economy and our world.

3 Twitter Etiquette Tips You Need To Implement
If you’ve been on Twitter for any amount of time then you probably know how much noise is out there. There are literally so many people sending thousands of Tweets every second that things can get crowded if you follow a lot of people. That is why you see a lot of Internet Guru’s only follow a select few amount of people. Which, in my opinion, makes you look like a Twitter Pimp.
But the problem is that a lot of marketers have been coming onto Twitter lately and they really don’t have any respect for the social platform. Well, the newbies anyways. I’m a marketer myself and I use Twitter everyday. I love it and totally respect the way that I use it. The problem persists when marketers try to blatantly sell you something straight from Twitter. They post links to squeeze pages and don’t let up until you either buy or block and make them as spam.
Twitter Etiquette Tip #1 – Don’t Spam People
There is nothing people hate more on Social Media website than uncalled for spamming. There are literally thousands of people spamming others on Twitter right now and it drives them insane. Me included. I can’t stand when people send me links to stuff they want me to buy. I actually got one today about some dude claiming he has a better service than Traffic Geyser. First off bro, don’t spam me with your affiliate link. And second of all I really doubt your product has a better reputation than and industry established service like Traffic Geyser.
Twitter Etiquette Tip #2 – Always Thank your RTs
Yes, while many would think this to be common sense, many people don’t practice this policy. Because of the amount of noise and auto DMs and auto Tweets out there, one of the best things you can do is physically reply to your followers. I know it sounds like a bunch of hard work but I promise the relationships you will build from taking 30 seconds out of your day to reply to real people will be well worth it. People are on Social Media websites to connect with real people, so that is exactly what you should give them. Be real as fuck! lol. And most of all, when people RT you, thank them for doing so.
Twitter Etiquette Tip #3 – Drink Beer And Tweet
Yes, you read that correctly, drink beer and Tweet. You see, Twitter is a place where you only have 140 characters to make your point to somebody, therefore you should drink a couple brewskies to get you on edge. People tend to say crazier stuff when they have a little booze in them. So why not get a little buzz and say some outrageous stuff in the Twittersphere? Yeah yeah, you think it’s gonna hurt your precious “brand”, huh? Well I got news for you Internet Guru, nobody likes a perfectionist. We know you drink beer when your not on camera or on a Webinar or writing a blog post. So why don’t you just come right out and say it. @GaryVee drinks HELLA wine all day, you can bet he’s always buzzin when he makes videos and he’s wildly successful. What’s holding you back?
Anyways, that’s about enough ranting and raving for tonight.
On a lighter note I’ve been having some really good sessions with a couple of my students lately and they have really been inspiring me with everything they want to learn. It makes me feel like I have to keep ascending to a higher level of knowledge and comprehension to better serve them.
I love being pushed to my limits, it’s where I excel the best. And it’s where I come up with the best ideas that are completely outside of the box and implement them into my daily business practices.
Man, I love how the mind works. It’s every expanding and only ceases to do so when you decide to stop learning and growing. Never stop my friend. You will go far. For if you ever quit, everything you’ve done up until this point is all for nothing…

Sneak Peak: Twitter Getting Redesgined?
If you’ve kept your ear to the ground lately you may have heard some leaked news about Twitter actively working on a new design.
Twitter has been working behind the scenes and doing a lot of beta testing to see what is most user friendly. You can also expect to see a new way to serve ads on Twitter. They are keeping this really secretive so I can only make predictions at this point but you can definitely expect to see them create a more user friendly experience that makes you want to stay away from desktop clients like TweetDeck.
Doug Bowman leaked a little sneak peak photo of whats to come on Twitter, it really gets your brain ticking about the possibilities of whats to come.
As you can see in the picture to the right Twitter will now display how many days you’ve spent on Twitter as well as the date you’ve joined. This can come in handy when determining who to follow.
You can even see the amount of Tweets someone sends out per day versus the amount of @replies they send out. This way you will know how likely they are to reply to you if you send them an @mention.
But these are only a few things that Twitter has strategically leaked to create some buzz about the launch of their new redesign. You bet they did this on purpose. And there is bound to be some awesome stuff on the way because you can bet they’ve only given away a fraction of the farm.
But here’s what I want to know. What do you think Twitter is rolling out with next? What kind of new features do you think we are going to see in the redesign?
Leave your thoughts and opinions in a comment below, let’s get a fiery discussion going on.

Twitter Feed is an awesome tool that I have recently discovered that allows you to automatically syndicate your favorite bloggers content throughout the web without having to push any buttons or write any Tweets. All you have to do is set it up once and it will go to work for you after that until you decide to turn it off.
What a beautiful tool!

Twitter Feed is that tool without a doubt. I’m going to be hooking up my favorite 5 bloggers to this thing who I know have top notch content.

Think about the power of syndication you could build if you had an alliance of top bloggers out there all using Twitter Feed to automatically syndicate each others stuff?
You would be able to drive TONS of traffic to each others sites and your followers would be loving it because it won’t seem like your only trying to promote yourself. Create an alliance and build tribes.
